About Falmouth – just a short drive away

 

Just a few minutes drive from Cosawes Barton, Falmouth is the sailing capital of Cornwall and with a spectacular deep water natural harbour with a unique mix of attractions. It has a relaxed feel and is the perfect place just to wander and enjoy the sites, sounds and independent shops of this vibrant town.

Falmouth has four family friendly beaches (Gyllingvase beach, Castle beach, Swanpool beach and Maenporth beach). All are lovely and full details appear on the Falmouth Spirit of the Sea website. Amongst the other many atttractions, you can also visit the National Maritime Museum or enjoy the panoramic views from Henry VIII’s stronghold at Pendennis Castle.

Finding something to eat in Falmouth is far too easy! You can:

  • enjoy the fish at Rick Steins, 
  • take the kids to the Harbour Lights Restaurant – voted in the top ten fish and chip shops in the country where fish and chips are served in a bucket!; or
  • simply relax in one the towns small independent coffee stops – one of our favourites is Picnic in Falmouth which can also provide a picnic for a day out at the beach. 

Falmouth holds many annual events that are a must for locals and visitors alike, including the Fal River Festival, Sea Shanty Festival and Oyster Festivals.
